Day 202 – Screamed in Iceland

I’m not going to lie, this is a weird one.

Now, if you’re British reading that title, you’re going to think I’ve had a breakdown in a supermarket (haven’t we all?), but no, I did actually scream in Iceland the country.

I’d had a lovely weeks staycation last week, and now it was time to go back to the normal routine and I was not feeling it at all. Bring back those lazy mornings and long lunches! I wanted to release some tension, and so I chose a new thing that would fit the bill.

The very clever people at the Iceland tourist board have created a way for you to shout out your frustrations at the world into a vast open space in their beautiful country. With Looks Like You Need Iceland they have set speakers up around the country, and have livestream cameras so you can watch and listen as you scream into the wilderness.

I thought this was such a fun idea, Iceland is always somewhere I’ve wanted to go, and I thought it would be interesting to say that my voice has been there before I had! I was watching the webcam for a couple of minutes before I recorded my frustration and was really amused to see two pre-teen boys commenting on everybody’s screams as they came out of the speaker. They said they couldn’t help coronavirus, and were sorry somebody was stuck in America, before randomly asking people to shout out their Snapchat details. I thought it was so funny that we were meant to be screaming into the void but these boys were sat listening!

I had no idea that this day would bring random comments from Icelandic pre-teens on my hatred of Mondays, but it certainly turned things around! What a weird and wonderful world we live in.
