E-scooters seemed to have popped up everywhere last summer: in Frankfurt thousands seemed to appear overnight last June. As I was in the middle of chemotherapy at the time I never tried one, but also, they sounded pretty scary. I’ve jumped out of the way of people zooming past, and heard many anecdotes of accidents and bumps β it scared me right off.
I didn’t have anything new planned for today, and after noticing a scooter whilst having a lovely sunny walk by the river, I decided to finally give it a go.

These things are so bloody fast! There were a fair few people enjoying the Spring weather, and I was so scared of either driving straight into them or ending up in the river! I could not control the speed or the breaks and ended up jumping off to stop β a recipe for disaster!
Dejected and disappointed, I went to lock the scooter up away from the riverside. I went to open the app on my phone, looked up, and next thing I knew James had zoomed away on it! He figured out that you could actally control the speed, rather than just press the button and go (can you tell we don’t drive?). With that information, I just ahd to give it another try…

I’m so happy we tried again, as it was actually a little less terrifying the second time around. With that being said, I definitely won’t be having a go on one of these death traps again β I’m far too much of a wimp!
